Why Lowri By Nature Chooses Soy Wax 🌱🕯️

When I started making candles, it wasn't with a business plan in mind. It was with a simple desire: to create something I could burn at the end of a long day that felt clean, natural, and genuinely good for my home. I'm a busy mum, wife, and professional — and the last thing I wanted was to fill my living room with synthetic fumes after finally getting a moment to sit down.
That's why every Lowri By Nature candle is made with 100% natural soy wax. Not because it's a trend, but because it was the right choice for my family — and I believe it's the right choice for yours too.
What's Wrong with Paraffin?
Most mass-produced candles are made from paraffin wax — a petroleum by-product. When burned, paraffin can release soot and trace toxins into the air. In a home where children, pets, or anyone with sensitivities is present, that matters. I wasn't willing to compromise on that, so I didn't.
Why Soy Wax?
It Burns Cleanly
Soy wax produces minimal soot and no harmful by-products. The air in your home stays fresher, and there's no black residue building up on your walls or jars. For a candle you're burning in your living room every evening, that's not a small thing.
It's Natural and Renewable
Soy wax is derived from soybeans — a natural, biodegradable, and renewable resource. It's a world away from petroleum-based paraffin, and it sits far more comfortably with the values behind Lowri By Nature.
It Holds Fragrance Beautifully
Soy wax has a wonderful ability to hold and release fragrance oils slowly and evenly. That means the scent fills your room gently and consistently — not an overwhelming hit when you first light it that disappears within the hour. It's the difference between a candle that performs and one that just looks pretty.
It Burns Longer
Soy wax burns cooler and slower than paraffin, which means your candle lasts significantly longer. Every Lowri By Nature candle is designed to be savoured — and soy wax makes that possible.
A Note on Natural Quirks
Occasionally, soy wax develops a light frosted appearance on the surface. This is completely natural — it's simply the wax returning to its natural crystalline state. It doesn't affect the scent or burn quality at all. We think of it as proof that what you're burning is the real thing.
